TEACH ME ABOUT THE AFTERLIFE.
We first premiered Swiss Lips almost a year ago to the day, but it's been time well spent, as the Manchester boys have seriously grown into themselves as they ready their debut album for release on Sony Epic in the UK next year. New single "Carolyn" already sounds like Strange Talk on a future kick, tearing down the pop freeway like Speed Racer with the brakes cut. Each refrain is an effortless finish line that pampers you with bejeweled synths, oh-oh vox, and the perfect getaway from the quotidian. Best of all, it's just the tip of the iceberg if some of the other tracks that have found their way to us through the grapevine are any indication. Now these are some Swiss beats we can fuck with.

STRAIGHT TO YR HEART.
INK are a new London duo making a technicolor splash with their vibrant time-bending pop. Debut single "Ink Goes On" first brought our speakers to life a few months ago via All Things Go, and today ATG are back with a brand new exclusive from the UK newcomers. Picking up where the promise of "Ink Goes On" left off, they've taken an already caramel-smooth 80's pop tune - Twin Shadow's "Five Seconds" - and dunked it in a sugar-dusted '90s glaze of Sixpence None the Richer and The Cranberries, mixed with a pinch of Pains of Being Pure At Heart to make the pace. Pop this in and you've got a VHS daydream on fast forward.

GOLD040: HAIM
The sisters HAIM have taken both sides of the Atlantic by storm this year, and the buzz looks set to reach critical mass with the release of their new AA-side single "Don't Save Me" / "Send Me Down", out December 10th on Neon Gold and available in the UK via our friends at National Anthem.
From the opening drum kick on "Don't Save Me", you're swept away by a coastal groove that sparks and skylarks on a wave of pure emotion. Then the vocals drop in piping hot, melting on your tongue with the vicissitude of a thousand addictions, and the rest is history. On the flip, "Send Me Down" is a dropkick to the face of unbridled estrogen and adrenaline in the same master rush, all criss-crossing hopscotch acoustics and butterscotch melodies, not to mention a healthy dose of space horns that thrusts the otherwise timeless songwriting headfirst into the future.
Almost impervious to hyperbole as one of those rare bands that actually lives up to the hype, HAIM is the kind of act that ticks all the boxes and then some. Their latest offering - produced by the brilliant James Ford - marks their boldest statement of intent to date and hints at the impossibly massive things to come on their full length Columbia debut next year, arriving just in time for their stateside homecoming at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on December 15th (tickets available HERE). Limited to only 300 copies in the US, this one will go fast, so get your preorder in HERE while you still can. There's hope in the world, you guys, and it's spelled H-A-I-M .

THE WORLD KEEPS BURNING.
We first introduced you to Los Angeles mystery men Night Terrors of 1927 back in September, but that was just a hint at the unbridled pop grandeur to come. Picking up where the promise of debut offering "Watch The World Go Dark" left off, follow up single "Dust and Bones" is a post-apocalyptic kumbaya of epic proportions that will possess and save you in the same breath. It's a beautifully orchestrated four and a half minutes of fatalistic bliss - all ageless harmonies and relentlessly uplifting guitar and piano chords - and when your time is up, you'll just want to live it all over again. Night Terrors continue their ascent to LA buzz band supremacy next month at Popshop West, supporting Pacific Air at The Echo on December 7th.

POPSHOP WEST 006: PACIFIC AIR
Following last month's official Two Door Cinema Club afterparty, our next Popshop West takes us back to where it all began with Pacific Air (the artists formerly known as KO KO) returning to our stage to headline after opening up the inaugural PSW with Haim and Wildcat! Wildcat! last spring. Supporting the fair-haired boys of summer as they play their first LA headline, we've got the ever-mysterious Night Terrors of 1927 bringing their night heat to the mix along with '80s dreamcatchers Lesands kicking things off early. It's three of LA's best and brightest providing all the feel-good vibes you could possibly ask for, with a two hour open bar on Cutty Sark whisky (for real) thrown in for good measure, just because we love you that much. It's all going down at the Echo on Friday, December 7th, with $8 advance tickets now available HERE. Let's close out the year in style, LA.

I'M NOT THAT NAÏVE.
There's a new diamond in this New York rough, and she goes by the name of Halona King. With a debut EP fully loaded with the virtuoso production handiwork of MS MR's very own Max Hershenow (that's MR to you), Halona knocks it out of the park on her first at bat with this darkly decadent collection of haunting torchsongs. "War Ground" is the real show-stopper of the bunch, with a spine-tingling piano lead that recalls Sia's "Breathe Me" running throughout as King showcases an elegantly restless voice that treads a delicate line between the powerhouse vocals of Adele and Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard. A diamond in the rough indeed, watch. this. space.

DON'T JUST DREAM IN YR SLEEP.
Swim Deep's latest and greatest "Honey" has just about the best hook you'll hear out of the UK all year ("don't just dream in your sleep, it's just lazyyy"), carrying on from their immaculate Chess Club debut "King City" in fine form. Already singed and honed to sonic perfection, we thought it was case closed until Montreal's Love Thy Brother tapped in and injected their Disney prince of a remix directly into our bloodstream. What follows is a coupling of heavy Daft Punk temperature drops and light galactic Fred Falke chords that swirl together like heavenly bodies in the November sky. We just walked into our favorite video game and we're never leaving.

POPSHOP021: WILLY MOON + ICONA POP
As the year comes to a close, we can't think of a better way to thank you for your ongoing support than by queueing up one of our biggest bills of the year for the final Popshop of 2012. In the live headline slot, we have London-based, Zealand-bred kid superstar, Willy Moon, whose debut anthem "Yeah Yeah" is currently going supernova on the back of that new iPod advert. Supporting him we've got NYC's Black Light Dinner Party bringing their dark electro charm to the mix and Cantora's favorite sons, Slam Donahue, kickstarting the night early. And if that wasn't enough, it's all going down as the official afterparty for Marina & The Diamonds' Terminal 5 show with Icona Pop earlier that night, with the lovely ladies of Icona gracing us with a headline DJ set after Monsieur Moon. And did we mention admission will be F-R-E-E after midnight? Looks like Christmas came early, guys. $10 advance tickets are available HERE, so mark your calendars now and we'll see you December 6th at Santos to send out 2012 with a bang.

WRITE A NEW ENDING.
We've got boundless love for our Brooklyn up-and-comers, and Future Screens are the latest to burst onto our radar. Debut single "Don't Stop" opens with an electrifying intro that teases and twirls forcefully into daredevil synths that go skydiving in the midst of a blissed out whirlwind. It's a near-perfect wedding of Manners-era Passion Pit and the blissful etherea of The Sound of Arrows, and firmly establishes them as ones to watch in the months to come.

It's that time of year again, as the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival prepares to take Brooklyn by storm this weekend, and we're thrilled to be a part of it this time around. TAKE THE PILL AND FADE AWAY.
Terraplane Sun are a Venice fivesome that are the latest act to join the ranks of the California gold rush that's taken over our hearts and minds and stereos these past few months. Terraplane dropped a promising debut album in 2010, but this year's Friends EP finds them really coming into their own. Lead single "Get Me Golden" turned its fair share of heads, but it's EP cut "Ya Never Know" that steals the show for us here, as trickling ivories tickle your senses and heady vocals stretch out across an oxycontin-fueled bassline. Like Electric Guest and Reptar sprawled across one big beach towel under a fairweather LA sun, it's a soul-powered solar flare of permasummer vibes that's the stuff of sync dreams and a strong dose of exactly what our early New York winter needs. Exclusive download below.

POPSHOP020: HURRICANE EDITION
Like we said at the beginning of the week, tonight's Popshop is on rain,
shine, or hurricane, and we've gone and kept our promise. While
Downtown Manhattan is still sorting its power issues out, we're
temporarily switching residence from Santos Party House to The Knitting
Factory in Brooklyn. Sadly, Alex Metric and Atlas Genius are stuck
elsewhere, but we still have our headliner, Wolf Gang, and The Royal Concept on board to make sure this is still a night to remember. All
advance purchase Santos tickets will be honored at the door tonight, and
in light of the streamlined lineup, tickets will only be $10 at the door. And we've got a new advance ticket link for tonight courtesy of The Knit HERE.
We're also working to reschedule shows with Atlas Genius and Alex Metric as soon as possible, and will be honoring original Popshop tickets for those events when the time comes, so email popshopnyc@gmail.com if you'd like to be alerted when reschedule information becomes available.
