We first introduced you to the pop magician that is NYC's Penguin Prison last month by way of his magnificent remix of Marina & The Diamonds' "I Am Not A Robot", but now its time to crane your neck to marvel at the brilliant heights reached by his very own original material. His remixes ably establish him as one of the most exciting new production talents in the game, but its his songwriting and vocal abilities that make him stand out as the total package, a one man pop machine on the precipice of absurdly great things. "Animal Animal" is his first offering and a mighty fine one at that, bouncing along on a playful mix of buoyant synths, sunny melodies and fantastical ambition. It'll be finding it's way in to the world as one half of a rather exciting AA-side single this autumn on Neon Gold, but we just couldn't wait that long to share it's sublime pleasures with you here. Would have been listening to this all weekend if it wasn't for the new masters of The Beatles albums leaking. Sure you'll let me off though as i've been listening to this for months and will be getting a copy :) What's the AA-side going to be?
Oh, and any chance of getting the beautiful and wonderful Marina into the studio to record her cover of Late Of the Pier's "Space and the Woods"? It sounds amazing live. Would make a nice present to us and make us all love you more ;-) *subtle hint* haha
