GOLD 010: ELLIE GOULDING

Stop the presses, this is BIG. We've been hailing Ellie Goulding as the second coming since she first skipped onto our radar last year, and now at long last it's time to bring her first ever proper single into the world as a very special milestone 10th release on Neon Gold. The teaser clip of "Under The Sheets" has already racked up nearly 15,000 views on YouTube and countless yearning requests for the unveiling of the full track, and now the time has finally come. Ellie delivers another killer vocal with some of her best verses yet, and Starsmith turns in one of the absolute top production efforts of the year behind the knobs. The result is nothing short of amazing, a serious coming out party for two artists who will surely be owning the pop game for months to come. But enough breathless gushing from us, we'll let the track speak for its self. The tease is over, this shit is for real.

MP3: "Under The Sheets" - Ellie Goulding [exclusive]

Out on November 9th, it's available for preorder now from the usual suspects at Puregroove and in the Neon Gold Shop. We've also put together a big remix package for this one, with reworks coming in from the likes of Jakwob, Baby Monster, Theophilus London and more.

Holy shit. SO. GOOD. I love that teaser, too.

(Also, regarding the new logo, I kind of prefer the old one!)

Don't wanna seem like a part pooper but I didn't like this song at all. From the first note to the last it just sounded like another Ellie Goulding song, which is a shame as most of her stuff I've loved. Hopefully it'll grow on me.

On the other hand, the Freelance Whales songs blew me away. Truly amazing. Just ordered their album and now I've got a week long wait til it ships to Formby (shitty village near Liverpool).

When you gave us a song by her for the first time last year it was a breath of fresh air. A gorgeous voice over delicate folkish music before a slight dash of electronica. It was exciting. We had a real talent here. And that song, "Wish I Stayed", could (would!) trouble the dross like Black Eyed Peas, Taio Cruz and the terrible N-Dubz at the top of the British charts.

Step forward Starsmith to make every song of hers sound exactly the same, turning Ellie into just another female singer rather than the star we know she could be.

We know you love Ellie, Neon Gold, so please, please, PLEASE get Starsmith as far away from any studio she's in as is humanly possible. His music isn't bad, but there's just no variety in his sub-standard bleeps on her songs.

Please split them up before it's too late and Ellie just fades away, missing her big chance when we all want her to succeed.

the party pooper comments are pretty harsh. its an OKAY track. hopefully the remixes will be ace, the production on the original feels derivative.

Feels overproduced

Hi,
that's Ellie's first song I ever heard - and only because I happened to turn my Stereo on.

German radio stations usually tend to play mass-conform pop-rubbish, so this was really an experience. Thanks for the possibility to download that track :) It will lighten my day in the next few weeks.

I love it! Thanks and regards from Germany ;)
