NO PLACE TO GO.

LA's new kings of summer Smallpools wrapped up their maiden voyage across the states at The Echoplex last night with one of the tightest, stadium-ready sets we've ever seen from a band at this stage. Today, they keep the magic rolling with a brand new remix, courtesy of our very own wonder boys Magic Man, who take The Pools' breakout single "Dreaming" into deep space and then some. The Magicians switch off the sun on this one, filling you with pop wanderlust and drowning out everything in their celestial path with hypnagogic synths that make your head swirl. It's an impossibly handsome power play that only further cements Magic Man as some of the best new remixers in the game, but hey, that's just our completely objective and not-at-all-biased opinion on the matter.

JUST LIKE THE FIRST TIME.

Brooklyn's own bright young things, Little Daylight, have been smashing it out of the park for the better part of the last year, and this week marks the arrival of their much-anticipated debut EP proper Tunnel Vision, out tomorrow on Capitol. Today, they've been kind enough to throw us the exclusive premiere of "Restart" - a Daylight live favorite from day one that instantly reminds you of all the reasons you fell in love with the three-piece in the first place. With space age synths and frontwoman Nikki Taylor effortlessly channeling Emily Haines in the winsome femme fatale role she was born to play, it's a synth-laden timewarp that floods you with '00s nostalgia in all the right ways. Don't miss them live as they hit the road next month with another Neon Gold favorite, Charli XCX.

THE NEW BONNIE AND CLYDE.

Chill, Sweden. Even for just like a second, there's other nations trying to get some shine in the pop game y'know? The newest starlet from the pop graceland to bless us with her presence goes by the name of Marlene ∞, presumably pronounced "Marlene Forever", but it's hard to ever know for sure with those crazy Swedefolk. Debut single "Bon Voyage" is a temperamental ocean of salty-smooth brilliance, as her mood bubbles to the surface atop buoyant synth flourishes and her silky come-hither vocals lock you into a sensual R&B beat. Think Yadi meets Kate Boy, or just the perfect better-late-than-never addition to your summer soundtrack.

POMPEII SET US UP.

COIN are a young new four-piece from Nashville who you should probably get on your radar. Now this isn't usually our thing (you know, anything sans synths) but their Southern-fried indie meets Brooklyn dream-pop sensibility is hard not to fall for. Coined "Atlas", their latest offering is the perfect warm weather music to roll your sleeves up to, like Local Natives and Vampire Weekend basking in the sun at a well-dressed picnic. Cop the exclusive download below and catch COIN making their DC debut at All Things Gold tomorrow supporting Jakwob, Little Daylight and Strange Talk (tickets still available HERE).

SMOKE SIGNAL ALIBI.

There's a new thing called Basic Vacation and we're pretty sure they're going to be rather large. Imagine Foster The People in a blender with Fun - plus the hooks and looks of One Direction sprinkled in for good measure - and you'll have an idea of the kind of hook-driven happy ending pop they're pumping out. But no matter how you cut it, debut single "I Believe" is a straight-ahead summertime smash, and we're excited to announce the band's LA debut at Popshop West on August 22 (tix now on sale HERE). Hit City USA indeed.

BODY LIKE AN OCEAN FLOOR.

Cass Lowe is a name you're about to get real familiar with. In addition to having a songwriting CV that already includes Madeon, Say Lou Lou, and a little band called Backstreet Boys, the UK songsmith has a voice that could move mountains (which some of you may recognize from Russ Chimes's incredible "Targa" last year). So we're not surprised that his comeback single "Birthmark" is a panoramic, larger-than-life ballad that will tear you apart from the inside. As it drifts along with the ghostly countenance of Aqualung, it keeps you at a voyeuristic distance, as if surveying the world from a sinister ivory throne. That is, until it rumbles and detonates into an all-out Bastille-storming anthem in the finale and everything takes a quantum leap to another level. And did we mention it's got an un-fucking-believable video to match? Because it very much does. Everything about this is the real deal.

WISH YOU WELL.

Just as you were starting to really miss The Chain Gang of 1974, he's back with "Miko", the barnstorming first taste of his next record. It opens innocently enough, like a waxing moonbeam of meditative pop, unfolding with the relaxed candor of early Bloc Party or Lightspeed Champion. But then things go haywire as it slides into hyperdrive, taking off on the pestilent wings of Isom Innis' studio magic as the Foster The People jack-of-all-tradesman turns in one of his finest production efforts yet. Buckle up and take flight below.

CAUGHT UP IN THE RODEO.

Things really couldn't be going better for Smallpools right now, as they continue their ascent up the alternative charts and traverse the nation supporting San Cisco on their debut tour. And today, we reunite with the LA four piece on another Neon Gold premiere, as we carefully pry the lid off the rather excellent remix package that's beginning to come together around "Dreaming".

First up on the remix rollout is LA newcomer Zookëper, who dims the lights and breaks out the lasers on a rare everything-and-the-kitchen-sink remix that actually works. The whole thing feels like getting your Smallpools served up animal style with an extra side of awesome, a genre-defying dancefloor behemoth that'll fuck your whole summer up. Seriously though, you've been warned. Smallpools return to LA to make their headline debut at Popshop West on September 4th, with tickets on sale Thursday and sure to sell out not long after that. Don't snooze. Don't lose.
