Last week's Popshop West with Kate Boy and Lovelife was one for the ages, and we've got another power bill lined up for you next month featuring an entirely homegrown cast of LA's finest new acts. Opening things up, we have support from local upstarts Dead Times alongside pop noir newcomer Jaymes Young, both making their respective LA live debuts. Then in the headline slot, we've got alt-radio soothsayers Night Terrors of 1927 keeping you up late into the night. Dead Times are yet another new Los Angeles outfit fanning the flames of last year's California hot streak, and their latest single, "Feel", is a brilliantly nuanced genre-blender. As the hummingbird synths warm up their shivering dual vocals, the Eraser-era Thom Yorke beat and reassuring handclaps provide a steady blanket of sun-beat calm. And after a hushed emotive piano bridge, the palpitating strings are back to work, pumping you full of pop opium. It almost feels like the whole of LA uprooting itself to come save New York from the cold heart of winter.
