DON'T GIVE ALL YOUR SECRETS OUT.

Our kindred Brooklyn spirits Ghost Beach are back with a brand new single called "Moon Over Japan", and it's the perfect appetizer before their feast of a headline set at Popshop BK this weekend. This time around, the boys rock their best island shirts, drive west to the Pacific, and whip up a feel-good monsoon of tessellating falsetto that rushes right through you. Tickets are still available for this Saturday at The Bowl HERE, and with Smallpools (making their live debut) and Bad Things rounding out the bill, this is not one you're gonna want to miss.

POPSHOP BK 013: GHOST BEACH

Our latest Popshop Brooklyn with HAIM and Kate Boy was on a whole new level of amazing, and now we're back to keep the magic rolling into July with another show-stopping bill. In the supports, we're importing a fresh breeze of West Coast heat with the international live debut of LA's young kings, Smallpools, alongside the Brooklyn debut of Shaun White's very own Bad Things. Then headlining we've got local legends and veteran Popshop allstars Ghost Beach, taking us deep into the night with their blissed-out tropical electronics. It's all going down at 11:30pm at the Bowl on July 13th, with tix now available HERE.

POPSHOP026: GHOST BEACH + MAGIC MAN

Hot on the heels of April's incredible Popshop throwdown last week, we're back to kickstart your summer with a May installment that promises to pick up right where last Thursday left off. Returning to the Popshop stage we've got NYC's finest, Ghost Beach, in the headline slot with direct support from our favorite new band of 2013, Magic Man, as they grace NYC for the first time since launching their new and improved full band live show. And rounding things out are LA's own dynamic duo, Wardell, stealing sunshine and warming up the stage early on. If that wasn't enough, we also have an open whisky bar of Cutty Sark. It's all going down Thursday May 2nd at Santos Party House, with doors at 9pm sharp and $10 advance tickets HERE. Come live the dream with us, New York.

WE'RE ALL FUCKED UP SOME OTHER WAY.

Junior Prom is a new upstart Brooklyn duo quickly making rounds around the New York scene, and their debut EP standout "Sheila Put The Knife Down" has been having its way with us since its release last month. The first cut is the deepest, as the jilted vocals slice through with tempered vitriol while loss-of-innocence synths and flaring guitars keep you up all night, tossing and turning in the middle bunk between Brite Futures and Ghost Beach. Don't miss them live this Friday, opening up for the mighty Swim Deep and the legendary Everything Everything at Brooklyn Bowl.

NEED YOU TO LET GO.

We've got nothing but love for Brooklyn's own tropical paradise, Ghost Beach, who are pushing the kind of pop that takes us back to the '80s childhood we wish we had. On their latest single, "Close Enough", frontman Josh Ocean's vocal acrobatics soar across a chopped-and-skewed vox sample before local lady sensation Noosa swoops down and crushes the guest feature like the world's greatest sidekick. Let's just call it a match made in Neon Gold heaven and leave it at that, guys.

POPSHOP022: GHOST BEACH + HAERTS

The first Popshop of 2013 marks the two year anniversary of our flagship club night, and you better believe we're going supernova to celebrate such a glowing hallmark in Neon Gold history. Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, Sky Ferreira has had to cancel her headline performance with us, but we'll be offering full refunds on all tickets purchased and any ticket holders should receive a refund email shortly. Helping us get over that SKYFALL will be a star-studded cast of local Popshop all-stars Ghost Beach and K.Flay, plus west coast alt radio sensations Blondfire and the international live debut of St. Lucian disciples HAERTS jumpstarting the night early.

Best of all: we're taking it back to where it all began and doing this one FREE ENTRY with RSVP to rsvp@neongoldrecords.com. Just consider it a jumping high five from us to you, to say thanks for all your support these past two years. It's all going down Thursday January 10th Santos Party House, and if this one's anything like the last time we did Popshop free entry, you're going to want to get down nice and early. Oh, and did we mention we've got complimentary Cutty Sark whiskey flowing for the first hour? Because there's that too. No no New York, happy birthday to YOU.

YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR ME.

Ahead of tonight's Popshop blowout, Ghost Beach mashed up Fred Falke's "8:08PM At The Beach" with the Beach's very own summer anthem, "Too Young". May we present: "9:09PM At The Ghost Beach". It's nothing short of headrush magic, as Ocean's vocals mesh spectacularly with Falke's lush nu-groove backdrop. It's the perfect way to close out another colorful season of sun, as we look forward to peeling open the next New York summer. Tickets are still available HERE, so come out tonight and jumpstart your autumn the right way.

To celebrate this milestone, our flagship club night, Popshop NYC is going extra large with the LEGEND, Fred Falke, presiding as the maestro of ceremonies in the headline slot. INTRODUCING: POPSHOP BROOKLYN

It was only a matter of time. Hot on the high heels of our European invasion, we're crossing a somewhat smaller pond and bringing Popshop across the bridge to Brooklyn. Starting next month, Popshop BK will be taking over the second Saturday of every month at Brooklyn Bowl, rocking the late night slot from 11:30pm onwards.

And for the opening ceremony in June, we're bringing out the big guns, with our resident partystarters The Knocks headlining live and Oliver rocking the DJ headline, polishing their stun guns all the way from LA. And to kick the whole affair off, we've got local heroes Ghost Beach rolling out the proverbial red carpet. In other words, massive pop hooks and summer-ready anthems aplenty all night.

We're cutting the ribbon June 16th at 11:30pm, so come out and celebrate the dawning of a new era with us at the Bowl, all for the low low price of $10 (advance tickets here). LATE NIGHT LANE NIGHT Y'ALL.

NEW SHAPES BROOKLYN: NIKI & THE DOVE + MORE

By now you're likely well familiar with our annual New Shapes extravaganza every CMJ, but now it's time to introduce it to the spring as we establish a new Neon Gold tradition. The weekend prior to SXSW will henceforth be celebrated (by precisely no one but those attending) as New Shapes weekend, as we look to bring those of you unable to make the trip down to Austin our picks to steal the show as the reigning acts of SXSW. This year's festivities will be a two night affair, popping off Saturday March 10th in Brooklyn with a second night to follow Monday March 12th in Manhattan.

It all kicks off at the Knitting Factory March 10th, as we bring you a triple threat of our favorite new international acts in Niki & The Dove, Charli XCX and Clock Opera, plus one of the best new bands in the NYC in Ghost Beach. For Niki & The Dove it'll be their first NYC headline play, while Clock Opera and Charli XCX will be playing in our fair city (and on US soil in the case of Charli) for the first time ever. All signs point to this being one of our biggest events of the spring and tickets have already been selling like hotcakes on the back of the Knitting Factory's soft announce last week, so move swiftly and get your tickets NOW before it's too late.

DON'T YOU THROW IT AWAY.

For further proof of Ghost Beach's snowballing status as one of NYC's next big things, we're excited to premier their newest single in all its hometown glory. "Too Young" is like popping a bottle of shaken soda in the middle of a heatwave and watching it fizz, as the sticky-sweet beginning signals the start of something excellent. As the riffs grow sharper and the synths grow confident, the resilient bassline swells and stands by for moral support when the breakdown teleports you to your first heartbreak and back and lives are affirmed. If you're one of the lucky ones in DC next week, get out early for Ghost Beach at our next ALL THINGS GOLD, which advance tickets are still available for HERE.

ALL THINGS GOLD 007: SUMMER CAMP + GIGAMESH

We're back with our second All Things Gold of the new year, and it's one of our most stacked and diverse lineups yet. This time, UK lovebirds Summer Camp are headlining with their unseasonably warm brand of nostalgia pop that will make everyone (literally, everyone) swoon. Warming up the stage are electro-pop perfectionists, Ghost Beach (who positively killed it at our December Popshop year-end blowout), before the almighty Gigamesh hits you with the high octane disco adrenaline as the DJ headliner late night. It's all going down at DC's finest music venue, U Street Music Hall, February 9th at 9pm sharp. Tickets will be $13 at the door, but a very limited number of $10 advance tickets are still available HERE. Get involved DC.

SO TAKE ME TONIGHT.

Ghost Beach are about to rock you like a natural disaster. Their debut single "Empty Streets" was a comforting sound that kindled something familiar and visceral in our hearts, and although their newest cut "First Time" follows a much different formula, it still has a certain sonic resonance that builds a Portishead-shaped home in your head with reckless precision. Josh Ocean's disaffected vocals lead a supercharged army of swashbuckling synths towards an absolute whirlpool of a breakdown, filled to the brim with a Marty McFly-level solo shred. We have only the highest expectations for Ghost Beach's live debut tonight as they take us tonight for the first time at Popshop. It's all going down at Tammany Hall with an open bar from 8pm-9pm. To gain access to FREE drinks and FREE vibes all night, you know what to do: RSVP@neongoldrecords.com.

And to say thanks for such an amazing inaugural year, we're doing POPSHOP012 as a FREE ENTRY end-of-the-year blowout, bringing you four amazing live acts and the almighty Xaphoon Jones as the main event on the decks. Headlining live are the brilliant Xylos, fresh off a sold out US tour supporting Trentemoller, with main support coming from our beloved Emil & Friends, whose brand new Lo & Behold LP shines as one of the year's most exciting debuts. PRETTY GIRLS BORN IN THE NINETIES.

As residents of the rage haven that is New York City, we've had our fair share of gripes about the concrete jungle and its dehumanizing tendencies, but we've also found the silver lining in the form of honest, homegrown pop duos like Ghost Beach. While their debut single "Empty Streets" isn't the most lyrically optimistic, there's a certain magnetism that appeals to our soft inner core that ultimately manifests itself in an overwhelming pop radiance. It's more cathartic than depressing, maybe because it sounds like a post-punk Passion Pit, all skyscraping synth lines with the jilted lover's vocals expertly oscillating between solid ground and high-flying falsetto breaks with athletic ease. It's the kind of thing that leaves you feeling like a modern Peter Pan, with both your shadow and your youth intact.

We're also fans of their very Instagram-ready video (above) that lets you keep your head in the clouds and daydream away. The pacing is brilliant, with the treading shiny shoes and the gradual reveal of the female anti-hero delving into the wild, for some quality alone time. It's like post-breakup, when the pros eventually outweigh the cons - even if it's just in your head - and the self-deprecation turns into a mature, blissed-out feeling of independence. We have to admit, dancing on your own with a glass of wine, sparklers, confetti, and balloons usually does do the trick for temporary healing. Let "Empty Streets" take you over, then mark your calendars for December 1st when Ghost Beach will make their live debut on the Popshop stage, kicking off a celebration for the ages as the first year of Popshop NYC comes to a close in style.
